Connections
CongratulationsonpurchasingtheGeminiUMX-3VCAmixer. Thisstate
oftheartmixerisbackedbyathreeyearwarranty,excludingcrossfader
andchannelslides.Priortouse,wesuggestthatyoucarefullyreadallthe
instructions.
1. MakesurethatthePOWER(1)switchisintheoffposition.The
POWERLED(32)willbeoff. Thisunitcomessuppliedwitha18volt
ACadaptor.Plugtheadaptorintotherearpanelpowerjack.Thenplug
theadaptorintoaproperpowersource.
WithVCAtechnology,audioisprocessedinavoltage-controlledamplifier
(VCA)removingitfromthecrossfaderandchannelslidesgivingthem
extendedlifeandreducingtravelnoise.Thecrossfaderandchannelslides
regulatetheDCvoltagethatcontrolstheVCAcircuit.Additional
advantagesofVCAtechnologyincludetheabilitytoprovideprecisecurve
adjustmentsforthecrossfaderandchannelslideswithoutsacrificingaudio
quality.Foradditionalinformation,refertothediagramsonPage3for
crossfaderadjustmentandchannelslidecurve.
2. TheUMX-3issuppliedwith4setsofoutputjacks. TheBALANCED
MASTER OUTPUT (4) jacks are used to connect to your main
amplifierusingstandardcableswith1/4”connectors. Werecommend
usingthebalancedampoutputsifthecablestoyourampare10feetor
more. BALANCED MASTER OUTPUTS have three separate
conductors,twoofwhicharesignal(positiveandnegative)andone
shield(ground).Thebalancedlineusesatip-ring-sleeveconnection.
Tip=hotorpositive(+),ring=coldornegative(-),andsleeve=
shield/ground. The MASTER OUTPUT (5) jacks are unbalanced and
usedtoconnecttoyourmainamplifier. TheRECOUTPUT(7)jacks
canbeusedtoconnectthemixertotherecordinputofyourrecorder
enablingyoutorecordyourmix. TheZONEOUTPUT(6) jacksallow
youtohookupanadditionalamplifier.

phonoinputswillacceptonlyturntableswithamagneticcartridge.
GROUND SCREWS (2) for you to ground your turntables are located

1. Alloperatinginstructionsshouldbereadbeforeusingthisequipment.
1. POWER ON: Once you have made all the equipment connections to
yourmixer, pressthePOWER(1)switch. Thepowerwillturnonand
thePOWERLED(32)willlight.
2. Toreducetheriskofelectricalshock,donotopentheunit.Thereare
NO USER REPLACEABLE PARTS INSIDE. Please refer servicing to a
qualifiedservicetechnician.
2. CHANNEL1:TheGAIN(21)controlallowsyoutoindividuallyadjust
thegainofthechannel.Switch#(24)allowsyoutoselect theLINE1/
PHONO 1 (13) or the LINE 2/PHONO 2 (12) input. The CHANNEL
SLIDE(29)controlstheinputlevelofthischannel.

controlstheinputlevelofthischannel.
4. Thisunitshouldbecleanedonlywithadampcloth.Avoidsolventsor
othercleaningdetergents.
5. Whenmovingthisequipment,itshouldbeplacedinitsoriginalcarton
andpackaging.Thiswillreducetheriskofdamageduringtransit.
4. INPUT ASSIGN SWITCHES: You can adjust the position of the INPUT
ASSIGN(24, 26)switchestomovelefttoright, upanddownORata
45degreeangle. MaketheseadjustmentswiththepowerOFF.
6. DO NOT EXPOSE THIS UNIT TO RAIN OR MOISTURE.
1) Removethechannelslide, crossfaderknobsandthe4screwsfrom
thesidesofthelowerfaceplate.Thenremovethelowerfaceplate.
7. DO NOT USE ANY SPRAY CLEANER OR LUBRICANT ON ANY
CONTROLS OR SWITCHES.
2) Removethe2screwsinthecornersoftheassignswitchplate.
Rotatetheswitchplatetothedesiredposition,replacethescrews
andtightendown.
HeightAdjustment
3) Topositiontheswitchata45degreeangle,youneedtoreposition
theswitchontheassignswitchplate.First,removethe2screwsin
thecornersoftheassignswitchplate.Then,lifttheswitchplateup
andremovethe2smallerscrewsnexttotheswitch.Rotatethe
switchplatetotherightuntilthe45degreeholesalignwiththe
switchholes,replacethescrewsandtightendown.Replacethe
switchplateandtightendown.
WhenusingaUMXmixerwithprofessionalturntables, suchas
theGeminiPTSeries,youcanmakethemixerlevelwiththe
turntablebyremovingthemixer’sfeet.
1. Placeasmallscrewdriverunderthefoot’scenteranchor.
2. Gentlyprythecenteranchorupandthefootwillcomeoff.

6. CROSSFADER SECTION: The CROSSFADER (34) allows the mixing
ofonesourceintoanother. TheleftsideoftheCROSSFADER(34)is
CHANNEL 1 and the right side is CHANNEL 2. The CROSSFADER
CURVE(22)controlallowsyoutoadjustthekindofcurvethe
crossfader has. Move theCROSSFADER CURVE (22) control to the
righttomakethecurvesteepandcutting(perfectforscratching).Move
theCROSSFADERCURVE(22)controltothelefttomakethecurve
gradual and gentle. The CROSSFADER REVERSE SWITCH (19)
allowsyoutoreversethecrossfadersothatCHANNEL2iscontrolled
bytheleftsideofthecrossfaderandCHANNEL1iscontrolledbythe
rightsideofthecrossfader. WhenREVERSEisactivatedtheREVERSE

8. MICCONTROL:TheMIC(15)levelcontrolstheleveloftheMIC.
9. CUE SECTION: By connecting a set of headphonesto the PHONES (36)
jack,youcanmonitortheprogramoutput,eachchannelindividually
orbothchannelstogether. TheCUEASSIGN(20)allowsyoutoselect
whattomonitorandhas3positions. MovetheCUEASSIGN(20)to
the left to monitor CHANNEL 1 and CHANNEL 2 in stereo. Move the
CUEASSIGN(20)tothecenterpositiontomonitortheprogram
(PGM)output. MovetheCUEASSIGN(20)totherighttosplitthe
signalsfromeachchannelsothatCHANNEL1willbeheardinone
earphoneandCHANNEL2willbeheardintheotherearphone. While
theCUEASSIGN(20)isintheleftorrightpositions(theCHANNEL1
and CHANNEL 2 combinations), move the CUE FADER (27) to the left
to isolate CHANNEL 1 and to the right to isolate CHANNEL 2. Move
theCUEFADER(27)tothecentertolistentobothchannelstogether
(splitorinstereo).
10. DISPLAY:Thepeakhold, dualfunctionDISPLAY(31)indicateseither
theMASTERoutputleftandrightlevelsorthechannel1andchannel
2levels. YoucanchoosetheoptionyouwantbypressingtheDISPLAY
(25)button.
NOTE:WhentheDISPLAY(31)isinthechannel1/channel2display
mode,byadjustingtheindividualchannelgain,youcanincreaseor
decreasethesignaltomatchtheotherchannel’ssignal.Thechannelslides
andcrossfaderhavenoeffectonthedisplayreadings.

DiesesmoderneMischpultenthälteinedreijährigeGarantie,
ausgenommen Crossfader und Kanalfader. Vor Anwendung dieses
MischpultsbittealleAnweisungensorgfältigdurchlesen.
2. DenmittlerenStifteinsetzen undfesteindrücken,umdenFußim
Mixerzuverankern.
MitderVCA-TechnologiewirddasAudiosignalineinem
Anschlüsse
spannungsreguliertenVerstärker(VoltageControlledAmplifier)bearbeitet
undnichtüberCross-oderKanalfadergeführt,waszueinererhöhten
LebensdauerundgeringerenFadergeräuschenführt. DieCross-und
KanalfaderreguliereneineGleichstromspannung, diewiederumdieVCA-
Schaltungsteuert.EinweitererVorteilderVCA-Technologieistdie
MöglichkeitzurpräzisenKurvensteuerungvonCross-undKanalfadern
ohnedieQualitätdesAudiosignalszubeeinflussen.WeitereInformationen
findenSieimDiagrammaufSeite3, dasdieCrossfader-Regulierungund
dieKanalfaderkurvedarstellt.
1. Daraufachten, daßderNetzschalterPOWER(1)inOff-Position
geschaltetist.DiePOWERLED(32)(Netzkontrolleuchte)darfnicht
leuchten. DiesesGerätwirdmiteinem18-V-Wechselstromadapter
geliefert. DenAdapterindieLeistungsbuchseanderRückwand
stecken. DanndenAdapterandervorschriftsmässigenStromquelle
anschliessen.
2. DerUMX-3verfügtüber4Ausgangsbuchsenpaare. DieBuchsen
BALANCED MASTER OUTPUT (4) dienen zum Anschluß an den
Hauptverstärker,wofürStandardKabelmit0,38mm(1/4")Stecker
benutztwerden. Wirempfehlen, diesymmetrischenMaster-Ausgänge
zubenutzen, wenndieKabelzuIhremVerstärker3moderlängersind.
SymmetrischeAusgängehabendrei(3)verschiedeneLeiter:zweifür
Signal(positivundnegativ)undeinenfürMasse.Diesymmetrische
LeitungbenutzteineSpitzen-Ring-Muffen-Verbindung.Spitze=heiß
bzw. plus(+), Ring=kaltbzw. minus(-)undMuffe=Abschirmung/
Masse. Die Buchsen MASTER OUTPUT (5) sind unsymmetrisch und
dienenzumAnschlußaneinenHauptverstärkerohnesymmetrischen
Eingang. Die Buchsen REC OUTPUT (7) können dazu dienen, das
Mischpult an den Aufnahmeeingang des Aufnahmegerätes
anzuschließen, umdieTonmischungaufnehmenzukönnen. Die
Buchsen ZONE OUTPUT (6) ermöglichen den Anschluß an einen
zusätzlichenVerstärker.

2. DasGerätnichtöffnen,umdasRisikoelektrischenSchockszu
vermeiden. Es enthält KEINE VOM ANWENDER ERSETZBAREN
TEILE. DieWartungdarfnurvonauthorisiertenWartungstechnikern
durchgeführtwerden.
Tonabnehmer zu verwenden. Erdungschrauben - GROUND SCREWS
(2)zurErdungdesPlattenspielerssindanderRückwandangebracht.
DieStereo-Line-EingängesindfürdenAnschlußvonCD-, MD-oder
Kassettengerätenvorgesehen.

HeizkörperoderOfenaussetzen.

Bedienung
1. NETZ EINSCHALTEN : Nachdem Sie alle Tonquellen am Mischpult
angeschlossenhaben, drückenSieaufdieTastePOWER(1). DerStrom
wirdeingeschaltetunddiePOWERLED(32)leuchtetauf.
6. DIESES GERÄT NICHT REGEN ODER FEUCHTIGKEIT AUSSETZEN.
7. AN DEN REGLERN ODER SCHALTERN KEIN SPRAY-
REINIGUNGSMITTEL ODER SCHMIERMITTEL BENUTZEN.
2. KANAL1:DerTonstärkenreglerGAIN(21)erlaubtIhnen, die
TonstärkedesKanalsindividuellzuregulieren.Schalter#(24)
ermöglicht, den Eingang von LINE 1/PHONO 1 (13) oderLINE 2/
PHONO 2 (12) auszuwählen. CHANNEL SLIDE (29) regelt den
AusgangspegeldiesesKanals.
Höhenjustierung
3. KANAL2:DerTonstärkenreglerGAIN(23)erlaubtIhnen, die
TonstärkedesKanalsindividuellzuregulieren.Schalter#(26)
ermöglicht, den Eingang vonLINE3/PHONO3(9) oderLINE4(8)
auszuwählen. CHANNEL SLIDE (30) regelt den Ausgangspegel dieses
Kanals.
Wenn man einen UMX Mixer zusammen mit professionellen
PlattenspielernwieGeminiPTSerie benutzenmöchte, kann
mandiegleicheGerätehöhederPlattenspielererreichen,
indemmandieFüßedesMixersentfernt.

4. EINGANGSZUWEISUNGSSCHALTER: Sie können die Position der
INPUTASSIGN(24, 26)Schalterändern, wennSiedieSchaltervon

SchalteraufderZuweisungs-Schalterplatteumpositionieren.Dann
dieSchalterplatteanhebenunddie2kleinerenSchraubenneben
demSchalterentfernen.DieSchalterplattenachrechtsdrehen,bis
dieLöcherimWinkelvon45GradmitdenSchalterlöchern
ausgerichtetsind,dieSchraubenwiedereinsetzenundfestziehen.

HINWEIS: Wenn das DISPLAY (31) sich im Anzeigemodus Kanal 1/Kanal
2befindet,kanndasSignalmittelsdereinzelnen
